Dive into the Beauty of Spray Ring Fountains

As an outdoor enthusiast, I have always been fascinated with the beauty of water features. From small ponds to large waterfalls, I have seen it all. However, one water feature that has always caught my attention is the spray ring fountain. In this article, I will dive into the beauty of spray ring fountains and how they can enhance your outdoor space.

Introduction to Spray Ring Fountains
Spray ring fountains are a type of outdoor water feature that creates a ring-shaped spray of water. They are typically found in gardens, parks, and public spaces, but they can also be used in residential settings. Spray ring fountains come in a variety of sizes and styles, making them a versatile addition to any outdoor space.

What are Spray Ring Fountains?
Spray ring fountains, also known as nozzle fountains, consist of a series of nozzles that shoot water up into the air. The water then falls back down into the basin, creating a beautiful display of water. Some spray ring fountains have LED lights that illuminate the water, adding an extra element of beauty to the display.

How Spray Ring Fountains enhance your outdoor space
Spray ring fountains add a sense of tranquility and relaxation to any outdoor space. The sound of the water falling back into the basin creates a soothing ambiance that can help reduce stress and anxiety. Additionally, spray ring fountains can be used as a focal point in a garden or outdoor space, drawing the eye to the center of the display.

Advantages of Spray Ring Fountains over other types of outdoor fountains
One advantage of spray ring fountains over other types of outdoor fountains is their versatility. They can be used in a variety of outdoor settings, from small gardens to large parks. Additionally, spray ring fountains are typically less expensive to install than other types of outdoor fountains, making them a cost-effective option for those on a budget.

Types of Spray Ring Fountains – Nozzle Fountains vs. Other Fountains
There are two main types of spray ring fountains – nozzle fountains and other fountains. Nozzle fountains consist of a series of nozzles that shoot water up into the air, while other fountains use different methods to create a ring-shaped spray of water. While both types of fountains create beautiful displays of water, nozzle fountains are typically more cost-effective and easier to install.

Choosing the right Spray Ring Fountain for your outdoor space
When choosing a spray ring fountain for your outdoor space, there are several factors to consider. The size of your outdoor space, the style of your home or garden, and your budget are all important considerations. Additionally, you should think about the type of spray ring fountain that will best fit your needs – nozzle fountains are typically the most cost-effective and easiest to install, while other fountains may offer more unique and intricate displays of water.

Installation and maintenance of Spray Ring Fountains
Installation and maintenance of spray ring fountains are relatively easy compared to other types of outdoor water features. Most spray ring fountains come with detailed instructions that make installation a breeze. Additionally, maintenance typically involves regular cleaning and occasional replacement of nozzles and other parts.

Additional features to consider for your outdoor space – Garden Fountains
In addition to spray ring fountains, garden fountains are another popular type of outdoor water feature. Garden fountains come in a variety of styles and sizes, from small tabletop fountains to large tiered fountains. They can be used as a focal point in a garden or outdoor space, or as a soothing background noise to help reduce stress and anxiety.

They can help reduce stress and anxiety, and they can be used as a focal point in a garden or outdoor space. Bracing your Fountain for the Winter Months

Your outdoor water features will do little entertaining in the winter months. They also become highly susceptible to the cold elements. That is why it is essential to care for your fountain in the winter months. By taking your fountain out of the elements, or reducing the elements’ impact, you are keeping your pump and the structure itself from serious dilapidation.

What are the consequences?

The two negative consequences that can result involve the pump breaking and fixture cracking. Pumps that are dry will not be affected by the freezing cold. However, all of the moisture that is in a pump leads to freezing which can break the pump. This would require you to get a new pump, and there is no reason to do that each year. The fixture of the fountain, especially with cast stone features, will crack in the severe weather.

How to prevent it

The best option for preserving your fountain in the winter months is to completely bring it out of the elements. The best way to do this is to disassemble all the parts of the fountain, dry them, and store them in the garage, or any other dry and relatively warm space. A space somewhere between freezing and room temperature is ideal. We also recommend that you clean your pump at this time before you store it.

If there is no space indoors for your fountain then you will want to cover the fixture. Two methods need to be in play as you protect your fountain. Naturally, you will want to cover the fountain with a water proof tarp. Make sure that it is secure, covers all exposed areas and has relatively no spots for leakage. However, no matter what tarp you choose and how you secure it, you will need to add some absorbent material to your fountain. While your fountain is being protected by the water proof tarp, all moisture that does somehow get to your fountain will be absorbed instead of seeping straight into the stone fixture. Fill the basins and tiers (any spot moisture could accumulate) with an absorbent material. Burlap or hay will work for this. Make sure to switch it out periodically.

One last thing if you weren’t aware. Make sure to rid your fountain of any debris or unwanted vegetation. Naturally vegetation contains moisture which you do not want. Cleaning your fountain before and after the winter season is just route process for two water feature owners. Call Water Feature Pros if you are in the Louisville area, we can clean your fountain this spring.

Following these steps should ensure the safety of your water feature. If you already have some cracks in your fountain from weather damage then you can call us at Water Feature Pros. We may be able to restore your fountain. However, if you find hairline cracks in your fountain there is really no need to worry. That naturally happens in the cold.

To create a beautiful classical scene, opt for shrubs and flowers, a classical tiered fountain, and hand-crafted stone outdoor furniture.

Flowers and Shrubbery

The composition of a classic garden scene is actually fairly simple. The intricacies and details come from how the plants and flowers are arranged. When choosing plants for your classic garden, keep your list fairly short. All you will need is a collection of shrubs and selection of a few of your favorite flowers to add a bit of color to your space. Redecorating? Let Mother Nature Be Your Muse

Has the interior of your home become all too familiar? If it has, it must be time for some redecorating! Every once in a while, it’s great to just change your scenery. It reminds you that life is always changing, and everything can progress if you simply put some work into it. There are so many styles and settings you can choose from, that the decision can be completely overwhelming. If you are looking for a little inspiration for your interior design, just take a step outside and allow the elements of nature to fill you with ideas. There are several ways you can bring the beauty of nature into the style of your home. With a earthy color scheme, natural wood flooring, and an indoor waterfall, you’ll second guess the presence of your own roof!

Color Scheme

Just take one step into the painting aisle of your nearest hardware store, and it will be painfully clear that the options for your color scheme are nearly endless. If you have decided on a more natural style for your home, you choices have been narrowed down quite a bit. Shy away from colors that are too bright and vibrant. Instead, opt for subtle earth tones. Dark greens, browns, tans, and even some shades of red will work for this type of setting. This type of color scheme will evoke a feeling of relaxation in the heart of any nature lover.

Flooring

If you are making major renovations to your home, one of the main things to consider is how you want your floors to look. There are endless options for carpet, countless styles of tile, and so much more. But, if you are going for a style that is inspired by nature, the best option is likely to be hard wood flooring. The design of the wood grain is immediately reminiscent of the outdoors, and this type of flooring is an absolute breeze to clean.

Indoor Water Features

Build your natural indoor setting by bringing the elements inside with you. A great way to create this type of scene is by installing an indoor water feature. There are several options available for accomplishing this goal. You can install a wall panel that hangs, or even devote an entire side of a room as a water wall. There are options of indoor waterfalls and plenty of standalone fountain designs. The steady flowing sounds produced by one of these pieces will bring a natural sense of peace and tranquility to your home.

Be inspired in the most natural way: by Mother Nature herself. Allow the colors, textures, and sounds of the outdoors fill you with inspiration for your own home’s interior design. With the right earthy color scheme, wood flooring, and indoor water features, your home will be just as beautiful as the great outdoors!

Create a Theme with the Right Garden Fountain

Spring is here, and in full swing, and there’s nothing like taking the time to get outside and tend to your gardening and landscaping. A beautiful fountain or water feature is the perfect addition to any landscape, and there are countless possibilities available for your own backyard. When deciding which elements you would like to implement, be sure to remember that they all fit within a central theme. People often make the mistake of choosing elements that clash, creating an energy that doesn’t flow properly. Begin by deciding if you would like a classic, natural, or contemporary look, and choose a fountain to inspire the style of your space.

Classical

There is no denying the elegance and beauty of a well-designed classic garden. With the right elements, it transports you to a place that feels timeless and soothing. The most appropriate fountains for this type of setting are classic tiered fountains. With their round finials, and simple, but detailed, design, they are capable of evoking an old Roman style. Many options even have sculptures or figurines, such as lions, gargoyles, cherubs, and maidens. Complement this type of fountain with beautiful urns, and stone benches, and your setting will be complete.

Natural

A natural setting is one of the most peaceful and relaxing settings. When designed correctly, the natural setting evokes an old-world feel that reminds you of the true beauty of Mother Nature. If you are looking for a water feature to accent this kind of space, a waterfall installation, or even a small pond is best for adding water into your landscape, rather than on top. Whether you’re planning on relaxing at your pond, or meditating next to your waterfall, your natural scene is sure to be well on its way. Accent this type of scene with simple stone planters, rocks, or stone benches.

Contemporary

We do live in a new millennium, and some people have no problem accepting that. A well-designed contemporary space is a place of simplicity, where less truly is more. One of the best choices of fountains or water features for a more modern space is a new spillway. A spillway pours a smooth sheet of water into a basin below, creating a look that is sleek and stunning. The way that the water flows in such a steady shape creates a look that is simple, yet mesmerizing. Take your contemporary look to the next level by installing LED lights to illuminate your spillway and landscape.

When you are tossing around ideas for design in your head, be sure to remember that theme is crucial. You wouldn’t want to have a scene that evokes all kinds of conflicting feelings, leaving the energy unsettled and confusing. Whether your theme is classical, natural, or contemporary, be sure to stay within the realm you have chosen. Once, your landscape is complete, you’ll see how choosing a theme is what truly created the look.

Create a Contemporary Outdoor Scene

The 21st century is upon us, and while some people enjoy the feelings of tradition and nostalgia, some of us are ready to take on the future with new styles and new habits. These ideas are present even when designing your landscape and installing a water feature. There are a wide range of styles, designs, and materials that evoke feelings of the old world, the new world, and the natural world. If you are one of the people who embrace contemporary styles, there are a few elements that would definitely come in handy for your outdoor design. The best water feature options are spillways and contemporary standalone fountains, and you can accent your scene with LED lighting and simple stone planters.

Water Feature Options

If you’re going after a modern look, the two main types of water features for you are spillways and contemporary statuary fountains. Spillways create a sleek and smooth sheet of water that flows into a basin below. The shapes created by the water are perfect for the simple, modern scene. There are also many styles of statuary fountains that evoke a similar feel. They come in a wide range of unique designs that must be seen to be fully comprehended. They take a more artistic approach to the contemporary setting, and serve as the perfect new age accent.

LED Lighting

A great way to enhance the look and feel of a modern outdoor environment is by installing LED lighting in your water features and landscape. There are lights that can illuminate the sheet of water flowing from your spillways, giving them an even more stunning effect. You can also use small lights to brighten stairs, walkways, and to accent the texture of walls. There are many different colors of lights, and some are even color changing. With these lights you can create the perfect modern nighttime scene.

Stone Planters

Something that is not often brought in a conversation of modern styles is the presence of plant life. But, we are discussing the plans for an outdoor scene, after all. Your scene doesn’t have to be overgrown with plants and greenery, but a few lively accents can add the perfect touch. The best way to make these accents is with the use of simple stone planters. Choose designs that are smooth and simple, that won’t take away from your contemporary style. Put in basic plants, that are mainly green and not too colorful. The essence of modern style is simplicity.

Embrace the times as they change, and be willing to change along with them. Create a scene in your landscape that evokes the feeling of the current age. With sleek spillways or contemporary fountains, LED lighting, and simple plant accents, your outdoor space will be the perfect example of natural progression.

How Indoor Fountains Use Ions to Benefit Your Health

Indoor water fountains have benefits other than their aesthetic appeal. For starters, fountains have a pleasing sound which relieves stress and aids better sleep. Did you know that an indoor water feature can do even more than that?

An interesting topic that you might not have connected to simple water features is the process of ionization and how it benefits your health.

Our air is comprised of positive and negative ions, and your body responds best to an atmosphere that is slightly more negatively charged. Appliances in your home act to undermine that ideal balance. As ions are negatively and positively charged electric particles, electric appliances and technology naturally have their effect on nearby ions. These devices promote an excess of positive ions. These ions cause lethargy in humans. That might make a lot of sense to you if you find your office job to be very tiring as you sit in front of a computer all day.

Indoor fountains can reverse those effects. Rushing water releases negative ions. Any water that splashes or moves releases these ions. In fact, all natural places with fresh air and organic features are full of negative ions. A water fountain really does simulate the great outdoors in your own home in this way.

Negative ions give you energy, instead of promoting lethargy and depression. When you breathe in a heavy dose of negative ions, your serotonin level rises. Serotonin is a natural chemical in your body that promotes a positive mood and an energy boost.

While being outdoors in unpolluted air is the best way to access a stream of negatively charged ions, an indoor fountain will thwart the imbalance that your technological devices are causing.

An indoor fountain or water panel will add to the ionic purity of whatever space you see fit. If you are in charge, put one in your office, that might be the place where you most need it. Or install one in your own home and reap the most benefits from your water feature.

Mitigate Unwanted Noise with an Indoor Water Feature

Water Feature Pros has a selection of water panels and some fountains that are suitable for indoor settings. These pieces will work wonders in home, office and commercial spaces.

Unwanted noise can be apparent in any of these spaces. Office environments have a stale atmosphere full of keystrokes, chatter and Xerox machines. Commercial spaces are either lively with the sounds of the public, which can be jarring, or create dead air when business is slow. Lastly, the noise we recommend mitigating is anything that comes from the bathroom.

To tackle the mentioned issues, you should first choose the location that is most appropriate for your water feature to disguise unwanted noise and look great. For your home bathroom, put a water feature in the home just outside of the bathroom. This might be a living room or a corridor. If the corridor is too small, consider putting it in the nearest living or dining area to the bathroom. That is where your family and guests will be, so it will really please.

In a commercial setting, there are distinct lines separating employee work areas and customer areas. For starters, at a restaurant this would include the dining area and the kitchen. In this situation you would want to mitigate the noise and chatter of the kitchen with an unobtrusive water feature just outside the kitchen door in the dining area. Makes sense right?

A medical, spa or any other lobby could all use some form of noise mitigation. A dentist office there are the sounds of drills and other instruments, along with chatter. The instrument sounds might make patients needlessly nervous, and the sound of chatter might be distracting for others. Place the water feature in the waiting room for the patients to marvel at and to distract them from any noises.

Lastly, an office area could use a noise reducing feature to keep everyone on task. Chatter in one part of the office can senselessly distract others throughout the whole floor. However, you do not want the fountain to roar loudly. By adjusting the water pressure of your feature you can gauge how much sound will best suit your environment.

What kind of water feature is appropriate for indoors? Certain fountains are suited for indoors. These fountains will not splash and are great for most ground settings. Also, we would love to recommend water panels. Water panels are either suspended or mounted slabs of stone or glass contained mirror which goes against the wall like a painting. The water streams down the top of the slab all the way to the bottom of it where it is caught by a long small reservoir.

We hope these suggestions will help you make the most of your space. Peruse out catalog for indoor fountains and water panels to see what piece speaks to you.

The Backstory to the Charming Manneken Pis Fountain

You might recognize the humorous fountain of a boy peeing. It is not merely a kitchy concoction by contemporary water feature designers. The famous fountain of the boy peeing is called the Manneken Pis which means “Little Man Pee” in Dutch. The bronze sculpture is located in Brussels, Belgium and was crafted in 1619. The current statue is situated near Brussels Town Hall and Grand Place.

There are multiple back-stories to the origin of this piece. One of the typical stories is that a wealthy merchant was visiting Brussels with his son. He had lost his son at the market and when the authorities found him he was peeing in public. The merchant then commissioned this piece to honor the city who took care of his mischievous son.

Another version is also silly but slightly heroic. This version states that the two-year-old Belgian Duke Godfrey III of Leuven, was only two years old when an invading army came to attack. The army put the young lord in a basket in a tree as the battle took place. He began to pee on the enemy, who ultimately did lose the battle.

Other back-stories exist, but they are mostly variations of these two themes.

The statue that exists today is a tourist attraction and is a living tradition for Brussels. The statue has been stolen multiple times throughout the years, with the most recent installation lasting from 1965.

Our favorite part of the Manneken Pis tradition is how people have dressed him over the years. He has worn almost 1,000 different suits. By visiting the official Manneken Pis website you can view the schedule of the statue’s ever changing costumes. Many of the previous costumes are now featured in the City Museum in the Grand Place. The costumes adorable, Manneken Pis has worn judo attire, vintage attire and dressed up as every profession you could think of.

This fountain is a pop culture icon that continues to charm guests. Manufacturers have jumped on the band wagon and even build replicas for mass consumption. Also, there are plenty of public replicas of the Manneken Pis, to honor the humorous Belgian tradition.

Leave a comment letting us know if you think Manneken Pis is a funny art piece or if it is a crude hunk of junk. Would you like to see the Manneken Pis? What would be a great costume for him to wear?
