Jumper-based lighting system is a game changer for fountain lighting

The unique thing about the Massarelli EZ led fountain lighting kit is how their wires are configured.  Each fixture has two leads connected to it with either male or female connections.  This allows each fixture to be easily removed/replaced without having to pull a wire out of the center sections of a fountain. More importantly, a new fixture can be installed without having to put its new wire lead up through the center of a fountain, (this would typically require disassembly of the fountain).

This system uses “jumper” wires of different lengths to go from level to level, (i.e. first jumper from outside the fountain goes up through the center of the first bowl along with pump cord and connects to the first fixture in the main bowl.  That fixture connects to the next fixture, and the next fixture.  The last fixture in line on each level/bowl then connects to another jumper which goes into the center of the fountain and up through the next pedestal holding the bowl above, connecting to the first light on the level/bowl.  This continues all the way to the top level and ends with a termination cap on the last light fixture.

This create only one (jumper) wire needed for each fountain level. When a fixture fails it is removed from the series of wiring and replaced with another.  No wire nuts, crimping, etc.  Most importantly you do not have to disassemble the fountain to install the new light fixture which would typically come with a 10′ + lead that had to run through the center on the fountain.

Another detail of this system is that the “kelvan” or color of the light is a true white light, (5000 kelvan), not the softer amber/white light used in traditional landscape lighting fixtures, (2700 kelvan).   Architects typically prefer this temperature for water features because it illuminates water more that the landscape lighting temperature/color and they want fountains to be accented from their surroundings, since they are accents.
