Wall Fountains

Outdoor wall fountains give you the sound of moving water in a small footprint. Some mount flat on a wall, while freestanding wall fountains stand against a wall or fence with their own basin, so you get the look without anchoring into masonry. We carry cast stone wall fountains from Campania, Fiore Stone, Giannini, Henri Studio and Massarelli, plus indoor wall fountains.

Where Wall Fountains Fit

A wall fountain works well on a patio wall, in a courtyard, along a narrow side yard or at an entry, where a tiered fountain would crowd the space. Designs range from lion head spouts and classic Italian panels to rock walls and corner fountains.

How to Choose an Outdoor Wall Fountain

  • Wall-mounted or freestanding: A wall-mounted fountain hangs on the wall and needs solid masonry and anchors that can hold its weight. A freestanding wall fountain has its own base and basin, so it only needs a level spot in front of the wall.
  • Size: Measure the wall's width and height, and leave space on each side so the fountain doesn't look squeezed. Our guide on how to choose the right fountain size helps with the math.
  • Sound: Water falling from a spout into a basin gives a steady, relaxing sound. A taller drop makes more sound, which helps cover street noise or pool equipment.
  • Material and finish: Most of our outdoor wall fountains are cast stone, which is heavy, stable and made to sit outside. Many models come in several finishes to match stucco, brick or stone.
  • Power: Plan for an outdoor GFCI outlet near the fountain and a way to hide the cord, such as a run behind the basin.

Wall Fountain Ideas by Space

  • Patio and pool deck: A lion head or classic spout fountain adds sound without taking floor space. Browse our lion fountains for classic lion head designs.
  • Courtyard and entry: A freestanding wall fountain with a wide basin makes a strong focal point by a gate or front door.
  • Garden wall or fence: A slim wall fountain keeps a narrow side yard open while it adds the sound of water.
  • Indoor rooms: For a lobby, office or living room, see our indoor wall fountains.

Wall Fountain FAQs

How do you install an outdoor wall fountain?

Freestanding models set on a level base in front of the wall. Wall-mounted models need anchors rated for the fountain's weight and a solid wall, such as block, brick or concrete. Both need an outdoor GFCI outlet nearby, and we'll walk you through the setup for your model.

Do wall fountains need a lot of maintenance?

Not much. Top off the water, clear leaves from the basin and clean the pump intake every few weeks in the warm months. Our guide to maintaining your outdoor water feature has a simple routine.

Can a wall fountain stay outside in winter?

In freezing climates, drain the basin, remove the pump and cover the fountain. Water that freezes in the basin can crack cast stone. See our guide to preparing your garden fountain for winter.

Can I use an outdoor wall fountain indoors?

Outdoor cast stone wall fountains are heavy and made for outdoor use. For a room inside a home or business, choose from our indoor wall fountains instead.

Where can I learn more about wall fountains?
